Introducing our new President

President’s Report:

My name is Marshall Moleschi.  I have been involved in Nordic Skiing since the early 1990s at Larch Hills Ski Club (Salmon Arm).  At Caledonia Ski club (Prince George) in the early 2000s I volunteered at different levels, wherever needed. Recently I have been involved on the Board of Sovereign Lake (Vernon) and most recently at Kelowna Nordic, helping on the Snowshoe trails and teaching skiing on our ski trails.

I love the outdoors in winter.  I have received so much joy from the people, facilities and trails at Kelowna Nordic that I would like to give back.  At the most recent meeting of our board, I was elected chair.  It is a great honour to have this position at our club and I look forward to meeting you this season on our trails.  This is our club, and together we can help make it the best it can be.

Snow:

We are excited to see snow on our hills.  This past week I have been to our trails.  There’s some snow in the trees but we still need a good dump to start maintaining the trails.  To see what the parking lot is like go to our webcam in the Main Cabin parking lot https://copperskynetworks.com/kelownanordic/kelownanordic-cam.html

The first Nordic trails open in BC are close by: Sovereign Lake and SilverStar.  We will not be far behind.

Membership:

Being a member at Kelowna Nordic means that you have your own Winter Club.  For only $170 a family of 2 adults and including any number of children (all at the same address) have unlimited use of our 85 kilometres of snowshoe trails and our 4 major

cabins. A single parent family has the same privileges for only $90.  Thats for a whole winter of fun.

If your family loves to ski, or even would like to try skiing, a family of 2 adults plus all children can ski the season for only $410, a single parent family plus all children skis for $210.  Like the snowshoe pass you have unlimited use of snowshoe trails, cabins plus the use of 75 kms of groomed classic and skate ski trails from December right through to April (weather dependant). What other sport is so affordable?

Grandparents, do you want to help your grandchildren and their families enjoy winter outdoor activities in a beautiful natural setting?  Then give the gift of a family membership this Christmas.  It likely will be less expensive than gifts from the mall, and when you factor in that you are giving a healthy lifestyle, it truly is a gift from the heart.

More information about membership and passes can be found at:

Trails:

All trails are ready for snow and snow is forecast for this weekend.  Snowshoe trails are cleared and flagged and with the first snow, these trails will be ready to go.  Ski trails will need a base before they can be used.  This weekend’s snow will be a great start, but your club will need to roll all trails to prepare the trail for a good base.  With the upcoming weather forecast for the next few weeks, I hope we can be skiing in November.

You will be able to find the ski grooming reports at:

Want to improve your skiing?:

Your club will be offering both Classic and Skate ski lessons for all level.  There will be a 4 week adult ski program in January (Sundays).  As well there will be ski clinics (one day commitment) on some Saturdays in February. Any new members can get a free lesson, a fantastic benefit for joining our club.

Watch for announcements at:

The Board, serving your Club:

We have a great team on the board for this coming year, a board with a great deal of experience and expertise.  You will likely find us skiing and snowshoeing along with you.

Information about your directors can be found at:
